medalist Bobby Fowler and bronze medalist Brian Hughes for the individual gold and his fifth World Championship.

In addition, 14-year-old Annabelle Ayres captured the attention of the international audience as she shot her way to two World Championships, winning gold for both the Lady and Sub-Junior categories. David Radulovich won his second consecutive Junior World Championship, Pete Hendrick won Veteran’s gold, and Bill Ray was the Senior Super Veteran champion. England’s Andrew Harvison won the Super Vet gold medal.

The NSCA hosted the championship at the National Shooting Complex last week, concluding Sunday evening with a thrilling Super Final among the top 9 finishers that determined individual standings. Over 700 shooters from 13 countries competed in the week’s event.

Unlike traditional NSCA events, the World English has an added Super Final after the Main Event courses are concluded. The top 6 finishers and ties compete in the stadium in a 25-target shoot-off, the results of which are added to the shooters’ scores. Four shooters were tied for 6th place, so 9 shooters competed under the lights.

Faulds entered Sunday evening’s Super Final with a one-target lead over USA’s Anthony Matarese, Jr. and three targets over Bobby Fowler. But Fowler’s flawless performance going to the final station had pulled him into a tight race with Faulds. Tied going into his final target, Fowler dropped the bird and ended one behind Faulds.

Competing for the USA in the Super Final were Bobby Fowler, Brian Hughes, Anthony Matarese, Jr., Wendell Cherry, Derrick Mein, Bill McGuire, and Shawn Stitt. Competing for England were Richard Faulds and 8-time World Champion George Digweed.

“I couldn’t have been more proud of Team USA. They worked well together as a team and looked good doing it,” said Team USA manager, Judy Morris. “Before the event started, I had several team members come to me and say, ‘Don’t worry, Judy, we’re going win this as a team first then worry about winning as an individual,’ and they did just that. It was unfortunate that England didn’t send a Super Veteran team, but all our Super Veterans shot extremely well.”

“Everyone on the team was pleased with the event and is looking forward to next year in England. Team USA has come a long way in the last two years,” said Morris. “One of my goals was to raise awareness within the organization as to what Team USA is and how you can become a member. When I look out from the Team USA tent and see half the crowd wearing a Team USA shirt or hat, I think we are well on our way to making that a reality. I hope that Team USA is something that every member can take pride in and do their part in their way to help us represent our country and sport in a positive, professional, and patriotic manner.”
