Coming Wednesday:
New NSSA-NSCA Target Talk

Coming this Wednesday, a NEW NSSA-NSCA Target Talk!

For the past several years, Target Talk has been produced by an outside company, originally as a compilation of shooting industry news. Over the years, however, it has become more and more important as a means of distributing association news to our membership.

NSSA-NSCA Target Talk Header We hope you’ve noticed the changes in content in recent months, as we’ve greatly expanded our event coverage, reported on more of your successes, added National Shooting Complex events to the mix, and generally tried to keep you better informed.

But now it’s time for more change. We felt it was time to bring the publication of Target Talk in-house to give us more control over its production. Here are some of the changes we’ve incorporated into the new NSSA-NSCA Target Talk in response to your feedback:

  • Cleaner, less busy format. We’ve taken out some clutter and, we think, made it easier to read.
  • Fewer, less obtrusive ads. You’ll still see ads from our sponsors and advertisers, but they are smaller and fewer. News and helpful information are our highest priorities. And, you’ll always be able to tell the advertising from our editorial content.
  • Narrower format that loads better in email programs. You should now be able to see the entire newsletter without having to scroll across your computer’s screen.
  • Format that is easier to read on mobile platforms. We’ll have a text-only version for smartphones, but even the regular HTML format (in which you’ll see graphics and ads) should display much better than previously.
  • Delivery changed to Wednesday mid-mornings. Since major skeet and sporting clays events typically conclude on Sundays, it’s a challenge to get all the results by Monday for Tuesday distribution. The delivery change will give us a few extra hours to get results from weekend events.
  • Past issues archived on our website. Miss an issue or need to read something again? You’ll find every issue starting with August 8, 2012, in the NSSA-NSCA Target Talk archives.

You’ll also see some more changes in content, including shooting tips and other weekly features that allow you to engage with us.

In the coming weeks, we’d love to hear what you think. Is the new format working better for you? Do you have suggestions for content? What would you like to see in future issues? You can contact us anytime at TargetTalk@nssa-nsca.com. With your input, we’ll continue to tweak and improve our content and format to make it as accessible and useful as possible to you.
