NSSA Target Standards Review

Due to the large response from our members across the country and within all concurrents and open classes, the NSSA Executive Committee will undertake an immediate review and reconsideration of the recently announced changes to the Open Team Target Standards. The results of the reevaluation will be announced before the end of February to allow many of you to better plan your shooting calendar for the 2012 season.

Very few members see a current logic in requiring more 12-gauge targets than the other three single gun events. The primary choices for Open Team Target Standards will be:

    A. Maintain standards used during 2008-2011, with reduction in 12 gauge:

               12 gauge          800
               20 gauge          800
               28 gauge          800
               .410 bore          800
               Doubles            500

    B. Increase standards in the 20 gauge, 28 gauge, and .410 bore:

      12 gauge         1000
      20 gauge         1000
      28 gauge         1000
      .410 bore         1000
      Doubles             500

    C. Other options.

*Note – Concurrent Team Standards would be the same as Open Team Standards, with the exception of Sub-Junior, Senior-Veteran and Super-Veteran. Those three concurrents would not be affected and would remain at current levels.

Please comment to your directors on this issue, as they are your input into these forthcoming decisions, and their Executive Committeeman will contact them during the next ten days.
